Mechanical Design, Concept Through Manufacture

Spot On Engineering designs the mechanical systems that make products work — and ship. We specialize in tool-ready design for plastics injection molding, sheet metal, thermoforming, and electro-mechanical assemblies.

Capabilities

  • Mechanical design support from concept through manufacture
  • Tool-ready design for plastics injection molding
  • Electro-mechanical enclosure design (sheet metal, injection molded, thermoformed)
  • Magnesium housings and rugged parts for field applications
  • Complex tolerance stack-up management
  • Design collaboration with customer-provided PCB geometry

Case study

Electronics Enclosure Development

A client needed electro-mechanical enclosures designed rapidly for fast-track projects. Spot On Engineering worked remotely as an integral part of the client's global development team to design, prototype, analyze, and release the design for production.

The enclosure combined sheet metal assemblies, electro-mechanical assemblies, injection molded parts, and thermoformed parts, built around customer-provided boards and proprietary mechanics.

Military Radio Design

A full-time, 1,200-hour engagement to develop a modular radio design tested to the IP67 standard.

The project involved complex tolerance stack-up, magnesium housings, injection molded plastic components, and sheet metal parts, plus co-development of special field-cleanable rugged connectors built specifically for the application, working from customer-provided PCB geometry.

Rugged Product for Harsh Environments

Designed a rugged product for professional users working in dirty environments — easy to disassemble and clean, built on a stainless steel sheet metal frame, with strong branding and excellent cost structure delivering high gross margin.
